FFGF – Yuletide Delivery

Hello all,

It’s safe to say I don’t like reading the news. I listen to it via Radio 1 whilst I work, but that is my only source of current affairs.

However, I’m glad to have caught this titbit, which didn’t make it onto newsbeat, a lovely happy story in amongst all the crap going on in the world right now.

Baby born in Shetland Coastguard Helicopter

Can anyone think of any appropriate names for the bouncing baby boy?

FFGF – A Bit of Variety

The Royal Variety Performance was on earlier this week and I have to say I was disappointed – Neil Diamond for the finale, really?

This would have made a far better finale :

And can someone explain the opera singers talking about big feet to me?

FFGF – GB Olympians Do Their Thang!

I so wish this had come out before last Friday night, well done on all the GB team who took part in this you were and are truly awesome.

And without further ado, the GB team’s contribution for Children in Need :

FFGF – 38 days to go!

Yup, as the Public Service Announcement it’s only 38 days to go to Christmas!
As part of getting organised for Christmas I am nearly done with present buying and wrapping, the cards are all written out and addressed/stamped and the Christmas cake is distilling/pickling.

Now you all hate me, sorry!

One of my friends posted this as their Facebook status yesterday which just tickled me, and I strongly recommend you DO NOT follow this recipe and behave responsibly when making your Christmas cake.

FFGF – Ow Much?

I don’t make a secret of the fact that I have yorkshire blood and when I received the quote for new specs I struggled not to shout “Ow much?!”

So in honour of my Yorkshire brethren, here’s a few classic comedy clips for a Friday giggle :

Harry Enfield and Yorkshire Airlines

Monty Python, say no more

As for the new specs? I’ve found a pair, just need to order them.

Happy Friday!!!!

FFGF – Taert ro Kcirt!

Given this week has been about Hurricane Sandy, I found something sweet and positive to show you all, Reverse Trick or Treat!

Have a great weekend, I have got the Monday off to finish off my Christmas shopping, so one long weekend for me!

FFGF – That’s Physics!

The joys of working in a University are the random conversations you hear.

Today’s conversation reminded me of this video, made by our students a few years ago :

I hope you learn something, there won’t be a test.

Happy Friday!!!

FFGF – The Green Hand of the Law

As you are reading this, I will most likely be on my way to Wales for Mr H’s birthday weekend, pics I promise next week.
Now onto the Friday Feel Good Factor, a news story which caught my eye this week :

“Bedford Couple Unwittingly Grow Cannabis” – BBC News

It appears an elderly couple bought a shrub from a car boot sale, which then turned out to be cannabis.

The Bedford police then tweeted :

“Seized today. Elderly couple bought shrub at car boot sale, tended carefully – biggest cannabis plant we had seen!!”

For more information on the story, please click the pic above to be taken to the BBC website.

Have a great weekend everyone!

FFGF – 50 Shades of Blah

First of all, a disclaimer :
I have not read 50 Shades of Grey, and don’t have any intention of doing so.

However, I would be living in a cave not to know about this phenomenon.

Women at work have been reading it and discussing who is going to play the main characters in the film.

I was talking with some postgrads this week about 50 shades and whilst trying to find a review I’d read about it, I stumbled across this :

50 Shades Narrated

And for those of you who don’t know Gilbert Gottfried, remember Disney’s Aladdin?

Now, re-listen to that and imagine Iago the parrot narrating it.

Happy Friday everyone!

FFGF – Jumping on the bandwagon

At this moment in time, that bandwagon is “Gangnam Style” by Psy.

This is one of those things that still leaves me speechless and giggly all at the same time, especially now I have seen the translation of the song :

(Please note these lyrics were found on http://www.kpoplyrics.net/psy-gangnam-style-lyrics-english-romanized.html)

Oppa is Gangnam style
Gangnam style

A girl who is warm and humanle during the day
A classy girl who know how to enjoy the freedom of a cup of coffee
A girl whose heart gets hotter when night comes
A girl with that kind of twist

I’m a guy
A guy who is as warm as you during the day
A guy who one-shots his coffee before it even cools down
A guy whose heart bursts when night comes
That kind of guy

Beautiful, loveable
Yes you, hey, yes you, hey
Beautiful, loveable
Yes you, hey, yes you, hey
Now let’s go until the end

Oppa is Gangnam style, Gangnam style
Oppa is Gangnam style, Gangnam style
Oppa is Gangnam style

Eh- Sexy Lady, Oppa is Gangnam style
Eh- Sexy Lady oh oh oh oh

A girl who looks quiet but plays when she plays
A girl who puts her hair down when the right time comes
A girl who covers herself but is more sexy than a girl who bares it all
A sensable girl like that

I’m a guy
A guy who seems calm but plays when he plays
A guy who goes completely crazy when the right time comes
A guy who has bulging ideas rather than muscles
That kind of guy

Beautiful, loveable
Yes you, hey, yes you, hey
Beautiful, loveable
Yes you, hey, yes you, hey
Now let’s go until the end

Oppa is Gangnam style, Gangnam style
Oppa is Gangnam style, Gangnam style
Oppa is Gangnam style

Eh- Sexy Lady, Oppa is Gangnam style
Eh- Sexy Lady oh oh oh oh

On top of the running man is the flying man, baby baby
I’m a man who knows a thing or two
On top of the running man is the flying man, baby baby
I’m a man who knows a thing or two

You know what I’m saying
Oppa is Gangnam style

If you haven’t seen the original version of the song, please descend with me into the madness :

And for some alternative eye candy, from the US Naval Academy Spirit Spot!

Have a good weekend guys, I’m off to the parents for my mum’s birthday.
